With Rue My Heart Is Laden

With rue my heart is laden
For golden friends I had,
For many a rose-lipt maiden
And many a lightfoot lad.

By brooks too broad for leaping
The lightfoot boys are laid;
The rose-lipt girls are sleeping
In fields where roses fade.

Looking for a path through the fog of war

Fog of WarAlthough I picked up the DVD quite some time ago, I just finished watching The Fog of War – a documentary film that is essentially an extended monologue by Robert MacNamara on eleven of his life lessons. He draws from and comments on his experience as Secretary of Defense under Kennedy and Johnson, as well as his service in World War II and as president of the World Bank for 13 years. I was fascinated by some of his insider knowledge of events around the Cuba missile crisis, as well as his reflections on the philosophy of war. Definitely a good film to start you thinking, and even talking, about some essential issues.
